This is the amount, in billions of dollars, that the Canadian government reckons it has paid out in connection with the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

According to the Government of Canada, it paid out $74.08 billion to Canadian workers in connection with the CERB between March 15 and October 3, 2020. As well, non-CERB Employment Insurance benefits amounting to $7.56 billion were paid during the same period, for a total dollar value of $81.64 billion in emergency support. The EI program subsequently took over completely from the CERB.

Overall, the government figures that it has processed 27.56 million applications from 8.9 million individuals.
